About:
The Refined Moves approach
Physiotherapy + Tai Chi in the Southern Highlands
Physiotherapy method
The Refined Moves physiotherapy philosophy is to always practice active, patient-centered, evidence-based therapy as this is the only treatment that has been shown to be effective (based on scientific, clinical research). This means that if you seek treatment from me, you will play a key part in your management. You and your problem will be the center of the focus.
Your time with me will be exclusive as I will not tend to other clients whilst I see you.
I will provide you with a thorough, comprehensive assessment and evaluation. I’ll explain what the problem is and why it is occurring and we will collaborate on your treatment.
My aim is to get you back to your best as quickly and effectively as possible and to empower you to keep yourself that way.
We will discuss what can be done, what outcomes can be expected and establish and implement a management plan. This will most likely incorporate varying degrees of education and coaching, remedial exercise and manual techniques.
My treatment approach will not have you sitting there passively plugged into machines nor will you be told you will need ongoing adjustments or corrections. These approaches fail in the long run as they are not active forms of therapy.
Tai Chi/Qigong techniques
Everybody can benefit from Tai Chi!
Tai Chi and Qigong should be accessible to anyone who wants to learn, regardless of any form of impairment as every body can benefit from these wonderful health systems. In addition to being a Tai Chi teacher, I am also a practicing and experienced physiotherapist. I know how to work both with and without impairments. I have the insight and knowhow to adapt techniques and forms to suit you and enable your safe and effective participation and practice.
All forms and techniques are taught according to student ability.
Learn the original, time-tested Yang Style of Tai Chi devised by Yang Luchan and formalised by his grandson, Yang Cheng Fu. Various forms of Qigong and Tai Chi weapon forms are also in the repertoire for those with a deeper interest.
Forms in the Refined Moves repertoire can take you from dipping your foot into the Tai Chi/Qigong pool, to wading in knee deep or to taking a deep dive. There is something in the repertoire for everyone:
